Exotic bets: Exacta, Quinella, Trifecta, First Four

Updated 21 September 2026

How combinations, boxed bets and flexi percentages work.

The four exotics

Exacta: first and second in order. Quinella: first and second in any order. Trifecta: first three in order. First Four: first four in order.

Combinations and boxing

Picking more than one runner for a place, or boxing runners so any order wins, creates more combinations. The race page counts the unique combinations as you pick and never counts one runner twice in the same sequence.

Flexi

You choose the total you want to spend. Flexi is that total divided by the number of combinations — 10 combinations for A$5 is a 50% flexi. If you win, you receive that percentage of the declared dividend.

Dividends

Exotic dividends are pooled and declared after the race, so there is no fixed price when you bet. The result block on the race page shows the dividend once the result is official.
