Placing a bet

Updated 28 September 2026

From picking a price to the receipt: what happens at each step and what can stop a bet.

Pick a price

Tap any green price on a race or match. It goes into your betslip and the price button turns dark so you can see it is selected. Tap the same price again to remove it. On a phone a short message confirms the selection and the counter on the Betslip tab goes up; the slip does not open by itself.

Enter a stake

In Singles every selection has its own stake box. In Multi there is one stake for the whole bet. The quick buttons add A$5, A$10, A$20 or A$50 to the stake. The potential return shown under each stake includes your stake.

Get a quote and confirm

Place bet asks our pricing service for a quote. It checks that every market is still open, that the prices have not moved, and that your balance and limits allow the bet. If everything is fine you see a summary and a Confirm button with the exact amount. Nothing is placed until you press it.

If a price changes

Prices move. If one has changed since you added it, the slip shows the old and new price and the recalculated return, and asks you to accept the new prices. You can choose in the slip to accept higher prices automatically, or any change, but the default is to ask every time.

The receipt

An accepted bet gets a receipt with a bet number, the time, the prices accepted and the potential return. It is also in My Bets straight away. If the answer to your request is lost on the way, the slip checks the status of that same request instead of sending a second bet.
